Resident Advisor Qualifications

Resident Advisors provide a supportive, caring, safe and home-like environment by attending to individual needs, respecting differences, and supporting growth and independence to individuals with developmental disabilities in a group home setting.  Resident Advisors work a set schedule and a variety of shifts.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and assisting program participants  with day-to-day activities
  • Maintenance of the program participant’s home and it’s furnishings
  • Attending to the health needs of each program participant, including necessary appointments, proper diet and exercise, and Provide supervision to program participants taking medication
  • Assist with management of household budget and resident expenditures

A Resident Advisor must be at least 18 years of age,  possess a high school diploma or GED, have at least one year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, have a  valid driver’s license with a good driving record, and applicants must not have been convicted of any prohibitive offenses as outlined in Act 169. The rate range for a Resident Advisor is $8.65/hr – $10.73/hr depending upon experience.  Full time employees are eligible for a generous benefits package which includes all major medical benefits and a retirement plan.  Paid training is also provided.
